Decision guide
What Makes an Account Worth Acting On Now
A good account is not automatically a current opportunity. Action should follow only when timing evidence and a compliant path have earned it.
Fit answers who, not when
Account fit establishes that the company belongs in the market. It may show the right operating profile, economics, footprint, or problem. It does not prove a current buying window. Treating fit as intent is one of the fastest ways to turn a precise market into an ordinary prospecting list.
Keep fit evidence visible because it explains why the account matters. Then require a separate dated event before claiming that priority has changed. A strong fit with no current event usually belongs in monitoring or further research, not an action queue.
The event needs a source date and a commercial connection
A useful event has a native date, a traceable source, a clear account identity, and content that connects to the offer. A new facility, contract, permit, executive change, expansion, import pattern, or first-party response can matter, but only when the event changes the specific problem the client can solve.
Generic company activity is not enough. A funding announcement may be interesting without changing the operational need. A job posting may support growth context without proving a purchase. The record should explain the connection and name what remains inferential.
- Native event date
- Exact account attachment
- Source and citation
- Mandate relevance
- Visible uncertainty
Corroboration must be independent
Two links are not necessarily two pieces of evidence. Syndicated announcements, copied articles, and URL variants can describe the same event. Independent corroboration comes from distinct origins or event families that add separate information to the case.
Corroboration is especially useful when the event is large, ambiguous, or easy to misinterpret. It can confirm the facility, timing, scale, or operational consequence. Conflicting evidence should lower confidence or hold the opportunity rather than being hidden behind a score.
Action readiness is another decision
Even a strong why-now case does not authorize contact. The relevant decision-maker must be identified just in time because roles and employment change. The business contact method, legal basis, allowed use, consent posture, suppression check, provider policy, company policy, and responsible manager must each be clear where required.
The final record should separate research confidence from action eligibility. The best recommendation may be to verify a role, request an introduction, hold for another event, or reject the case. That restraint is part of the value because it protects the team from spending attention on a story that cannot support responsible action.
